When A Stranger Calls...Well More Like When A Stranger Tries To Break Down Your Door
Something really scary happened to me the other night. There was a knock at the door. I wondered who could be knocking after business hours. A lot of times the UPS man comes, or people come by and try to sell us stuff, but I knew it was too late for any of that. As I got up to answer it, the knocking got louder and more intense. I opened the door a tiny bit and a guy was standing there. As I opened it he pushed the door in with his shoulder. I started freaking out, in my head of course. I really didn't know what to think. Was he trying to break in? Trying to rob me? Trying to murder me? Yes, these thoughts really did run through my mind in that quick moment. As he was pushing the door into me, I pushed back and was able to get it shut and locked before he could get in.
My heart is racing as I type this.
I was terrified. Definitely one of the scariest moments of my life. As it turned out, he thought it was his friend's house, but obviously he was at the wrong location. And to his credit he did apologize twice through the door. That didn't take away my fear, though.
My husband ran to me and held me. I was shaking and crying. Later that night when I walked passed the door to go upstairs, I was became fearful again.
Obviously I am fine and it was all a mistake, but in that moment I thought I might die. Someone was trying to push open my front door into me. Thankfully my husband was around to help and comfort me. He kept assuring me everything was going to be okay and that I could trust God with this situation, just like I can trust him with every situation.
