Pasta With Sausage In A Spinach Pesto Sauce Recipe

We typically eat grain-free, but occasionally will add in some rice since I’m limited on what foods I can eat. With my Food Blogger’s Challenge being spinach this week, I thought I would share my spinach pesto sauce recipe. I love it so much more than a pesto sauce with basil. My pesto sauce doesn’t have dairy or tree nuts, so it’s pretty safe for everyone!

Pasta With Sausage In A Spinach Pesto Sauce Recipe

16oz pasta

3 sausages – any flavor you want

pesto sauce

Ingredients For Pesto Sauce:

3 cups fresh spinach

1/2 cup olive oil

1 clove of garlic

Making It:

  1. Boil pasta.
  2. Slice sausage into thin pieces and cook until heated through. I followed my homemade pepperoni recipe directions for cooking my sausage, but only left the pieces in the oven for half the amount of time as that recipe calls for.
  3. Put the spinach, olive oil, and garlic into a food processor and process until smooth.
  4. Once pasta is done cooking, drain it, then add it back to the pot.
  5. Add pesto and sausage. Stir to combine.

  1. There isnt an amount listed for Pesto in the ingredient section…can I get it from you? Would love to make this for my daughter whovis intolerant of corn.

    • Hey Lori! Sorry to hear your daughter has a corn intolerance. I know from experience that it’s a tough one to work around. For the pesto – I just used all of the sauce the recipe makes. I processed 3 cups of spinach, 1/2 cup olive oil, and 1 clove of garlic, then dumped it all on the pasta and sausage. I’m not sure how much it made, though. If I had to guess, I would say about 1 cup (give or take) of pesto.

  2. Thank you! I dont think I realized that the sauce itself is the pesto…I thought pesto was an ingredient haha

  3. I never thought to make pesto from spinach. My husband would love that. Thanks!
