Single Ingredient Healthy Oven-Baked Chips
(gluten/dairy/soy/corn/potato free)

Chips are a weakness for me, but ever since I found out I have potato and corn allergies, I haven’t been able to eat them. But then I came up with a recipe for ones I can eat. Cue jumping up and down.

I made this recipe using dairy, but I have it listed as dairy-free because I provide you with a dairy-free alternative.

(And now you know how much I buy my Amish cheese for.)

Ingredients:
Cheese. That’s it. Seriously. The only food ingredient. I used raw/unpasteurized cheddar cheese. The dairy-free alternative is Daiya or almond cheese.
Seasoning – Optional 2nd ingredient. Before baking, feel free to season the cheese to change up the flavors. Black pepper, garlic, onion, parsley, and cayenne would all be great choices.

You also need parchment paper and a baking sheet. The parchment paper is the key. But no joke, only one food ingredient, and yet it’s oh so delicious.

Trust me when I say you NEED the parchment paper. It won’t work without it. I tried.

Making It:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. The oven needs to be heated all the way. Super important.
  2. Thinly slice your cheese. If using shredded cheese, then just put out some shreds instead.
  3. Place a piece of parchment paper on your baking sheet.
  4. Lay out your cheese so that the pieces aren’t touching. {Season now if desired.}
  5. Bake for about 10 minutes.

Make sure you don’t over cook them, otherwise they will taste weird. Take them out of the oven after they start to crisp around the edges, but are still a tiny bit gooey in the very center. Let them cool for a minute before removing them.

That’s it. What comes out is crunchy, yummy, chipy, goodness. They look like chips and have the consistency of chips. You can even dip them in salsa if you want. I can’t because I’m allergic, but if you do, let me know how it tastes. Enjoy!

  1. It’s funny that you made a recipe out of what I’ve been doing for years–I’ve always eaten the crispy cheese that oozes out when my mom makes pepperoni rolls :)
