We don’t live in the same state as any of our family members, which means we are constantly connecting with them via technology. Phone calls are not always possible, so I’ve had to get creative with how I keep in touch with my family and friends. Here are five ways I connect with them without having to spend money to do so.
Sharing Photos – Our families love seeing photos of our son, so we share most of the pictures we take so that they can keep up with his growth and just general cuteness :)
Video Chatting – We like to video chat so that we see them face to face whenever possible. Not as good as in person, but it’s nice to be able to see who we are talking to.
Quick Messages – I send quick messages with questions or short updates through social media as much as possible.
Phone Calls – Like I said above, this is not always possible, but I do try to talk to all family members on the phone once a month.
Vonage Mobile App – There are so many different apps out there, so why mention this one? It lets you make phone calls and send text messages to anyone for free, as long as they also have the app. How many times have you come close to going over your texting limit? Texting is one way I stay in touch with family, so to be able to do that for free is a fantastic option. In addition to basic text messages, this app allows you to send photos for free as well! Now you can snap a selfy or a photo of your child, and instantly send it off to any family member or friend to keep them in the loop. If you have an iPhone or an Android, it’s easily downloadable.
Right now, for a special limited-time offer, you can get FREE calls to any mobile or landline phone in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico (up to 3000 minutes per month). Download the app on your iPhone or Andriod to get these great perks. You can also follow @Vonage on Twitter, and Like Vonage Mobile on Facebook: www.facebook.com/
